Connecting New Zealand businesses with the opportunities of 54 African nations — through trade intelligence, diplomatic networks, and on-the-ground expertise.
ANZBC is the only New Zealand organisation dedicated exclusively to trade, investment, and business development across the African continent.
We facilitate real business connections — from introductions to market-entry support — across Africa's most dynamic economies.
Quarterly briefs, webinars, and member resources so you navigate 54 distinct economies with confidence — not guesswork.
Working alongside NZTE, MFAT, and NZ High Commissions. In 2022 we were the only non-governmental entity invited to NZ–Egypt bilateral trade discussions.
We organise around five sectors where NZ and African economies have the strongest complementarity — then work with individual SMEs to find the African countries with real capacity and appetite to engage.
NZ institutions meeting Africa's fast-growing demand for quality learning
NZ precision and quality expertise for African industrial growth
NZ's clean energy leadership + Africa's enormous renewable potential
World-class NZ agricultural innovation for African farming
Partnering with Africa's rapidly expanding digital financial infrastructure
Africa is the world's youngest and fastest-urbanising continent — 1.4 billion people, 54 nations, and a workforce that will exceed China and India combined by 2035. AfCFTA is creating the world's largest free trade area by country count.
For New Zealand: less competition, higher demand for premium goods, and genuine appetite for the innovation, food safety, and agri-tech expertise NZ companies bring. Three NZ embassies. One NZTE rep covering all of Africa from Dubai. ANZBC exists to close that gap.

New Zealand's only pan-Africa business chamber — founded in 2018 to connect our two worlds through trade, investment, and genuine partnership.
The Africa New Zealand Business Chamber was founded in 2018 with a clear purpose: to build a dedicated, credible bridge between New Zealand's business community and the African continent. At the time, no such organisation existed. Today, ANZBC remains the only New Zealand entity of its kind.
We were built on a simple observation: New Zealand businesses consistently underestimate Africa, and African businesses consistently underestimate what New Zealand has to offer. Our mission is to close that gap — with intelligence, relationships, and action.
ANZBC operates as a not-for-profit, member-supported chamber recognised by NZTE and MFAT as the primary non-governmental voice on NZ–Africa trade and investment.
"In 2022, ANZBC was the only non-governmental entity invited to participate in bilateral New Zealand–Egypt trade discussions — a recognition of our role as a trusted, credible partner to government."
ANZBC founded — the first and only pan-Africa business chamber in New Zealand.
Formal engagement with NZTE and MFAT established. First member events held.
Webinar programme launched. Membership opens to individuals, SMEs, and corporates.
ANZBC invited to NZ–Egypt bilateral trade discussions — the only non-governmental entity at the table.
Advisory council formed. Priority sector focus established across Education, Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, AgriTech, and FinTech.
ANZBC relaunches with an ambitious 2026 programme — including a flagship business activation in South Africa.
Each with its own regulatory environment, consumer profile, and growth trajectory. Entry strategy must reflect this diversity.
East Africa leads in FinTech and agri-innovation. North Africa offers MENA corridor access. Southern Africa has depth in services. West Africa has consumer scale like no other.
ANZBC does not prescribe priority markets. We work with individual SMEs to identify the African countries best matched to their product, service, and risk appetite.
Three embassies — Cairo, Addis Ababa, and Pretoria — anchor our government-to-government relationships. NZTE's Africa rep is based in Dubai. ANZBC exists to extend that reach across all 54 nations.
ANZBC is led by experienced practitioners with genuine, lived connections across New Zealand and Africa.

ANZBC's work is organised around five sectors where NZ and African economies have genuine, complementary strengths. We are actively seeking partners in these areas — in both directions.
ANZBC does not prescribe which African countries NZ businesses should enter. Every market is different, every business is different. What we do is organise around sectors — and then work with individual SMEs to identify the African countries with the capacity and appetite to engage.
If your organisation — in New Zealand or in Africa — has capability in any of the five sectors below, we want to hear from you. The pipeline runs in both directions.
Pan-African by design. The African Union's vision spans all 54 member states. ANZBC's sector-led approach means we can engage meaningfully across the continent — not just where NZ already has a diplomatic footprint.
Africa's education sector is one of the fastest-growing in the world — driven by a young, urbanising population with rising aspirations and increasing access to technology. NZ's universities, polytechnics, English-language schools, and EdTech firms have a compelling offer: internationally recognised qualifications, pastoral care excellence, and genuine innovation in learning design and delivery.
We are looking for African governments, universities, schools, and education ministries interested in student mobility programmes, professional development, and EdTech deployment at scale.
🥝 NZ Strengths: Internationally recognised qualifications, English-language instruction, EdTech innovation, pastoral care models, vocational training frameworks, and a proven track record with international students.
Africa's manufacturing sector is undergoing rapid transformation driven by AfCFTA, rising consumer demand, and significant investment in industrial infrastructure. NZ companies bring expertise in precision manufacturing, quality systems, food processing, and sustainable production.
We are looking for African manufacturers, industrial parks, and government investment agencies seeking technology transfer, joint ventures, and production expertise.
🥝 NZ Strengths: Food and beverage processing, precision engineering, quality management systems, environmental compliance, and export-oriented production know-how.
Africa has some of the world's most abundant renewable energy resources — solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal — yet energy access remains a critical challenge. New Zealand, with over 80% of electricity from renewables and world-leading geothermal expertise, has exactly what Africa needs.
We are looking for African energy authorities, utilities, developers, and governments seeking partnerships in solar deployment, geothermal development, grid management, and clean energy financing.
🥝 NZ Strengths: Geothermal development (world-leading), hydro engineering, grid management, solar project experience, clean energy financing models, and regulatory framework design.
Agriculture employs the majority of Africa's workforce and faces acute challenges in productivity, food security, and climate resilience. From precision livestock genetics to smart irrigation and farm management systems, NZ AgriTech has exactly what African agriculture needs to scale.
We are looking for African agricultural authorities, cooperatives, agribusinesses, and development finance institutions seeking NZ AgriTech partnerships, technology licensing, and knowledge transfer.
🥝 NZ Strengths: Livestock genetics, dairy systems, precision irrigation, farm management software, food safety technology, veterinary expertise, and sustainable land management.
Africa's FinTech sector is one of the most dynamic in the world. Mobile money, digital payments, micro-lending, and insurance innovation are transforming how hundreds of millions access financial services. Kenya's M-Pesa, Nigeria's startup ecosystem, and South Africa's established financial sector create continent-wide opportunity for NZ FinTech firms.
We are looking for African FinTech firms, banks, mobile network operators, and regulators seeking NZ partnerships in payments infrastructure, regulatory technology, financial inclusion, and investment facilitation.
🥝 NZ Strengths: Payments technology, regulatory compliance systems, financial inclusion models, investment platforms, and professional financial services expertise.
Whether you're a NZ business looking to enter Africa, or an African organisation looking for NZ partnership — we want to hear from you.
ANZBC members receive priority briefings, introductions, and in-market expertise across all five sectors.
ANZBC covers all 54 African nations. We work with individual SMEs to identify which markets best match their product, service, and risk appetite — rather than prescribing a fixed list.
Reducing Africa to a short list of "priority markets" is one of the most common mistakes NZ businesses make. Market selection must be driven by your sector, your product, your risk tolerance, and where genuine capacity exists on the African side. ANZBC helps you make that determination.
Each with its own regulatory environment, consumer profile, infrastructure reality, and growth trajectory. Entry strategy must reflect this diversity.
NZ has embassies in Cairo, Addis Ababa, and Pretoria — natural starting points for government-connected engagements, but not the only entry points.
ANZBC maps your sector strengths against African market conditions to identify where the real opportunities lie for your specific business.
While ANZBC covers all 54 nations, we have run events, briefings, and engagement programmes in these markets:
We map your sector strengths against country-level conditions — regulatory environment, consumer demand, infrastructure maturity, and NZ presence.
For SME and Corporate members, ANZBC facilitates introductions to pre-qualified contacts — government agencies, industry associations, and private sector counterparts.
On request, ANZBC produces tailored country briefs for members evaluating specific markets — covering regulatory, commercial, and cultural considerations.
